Blyvooruitzicht
A landscape after extraction. Ruin, resilience and unexpected life gather around the remains of one of South Africa’s oldest gold-mining towns.
Blyvooruitzicht is a settlement shaped by what was taken from beneath it. When an industrial promise recedes, it leaves architecture, earth and people to negotiate the silence that follows.
The series refuses a simple ruin narrative. Trees push through concrete, signs keep pointing and daily life continues beside structures built for another scale of ambition. The landscape is wounded, but it is not empty.
